How awesome is this place!" This was Jacob's response to being in the house of God. People do not normally feel that way in church. There is no sense of awe, no sense of being in the presence of One who makes us tremble. People in awe never complain that church is boring
"This is very true, the awe and reverence in our churches has been lost with the desire to make us feel good. We are only bored if we go to church for what we can get out of it (enjoy good singing, hear a "good" sermon) not if we go to worship a mighty God, bring Him praise and glory and humbly hear from Him in the reading and exposition of the word that we may seek to apply it to our lives. The church I was brought up in as a child had on the wall at the front of the church "be silent all flesh before the Lord" Zachariah 2 v 13 a reminder that we must come in awe before Him."
